textural worship - online workshop

MOONDAY 30TH MARCH

7PM UK - 8PM CET - 12PM PACIFIC - 3PM EASTERN

this is an invitation into textural worship

a online workshop for bodies interested in integration through direct experience of movement and energy work and it’s relationship to creativity and art

this container will be curated and also freely emergent

together we will explore immersion into immediacy and intimacy with the textures of experience and how those textures long to be felt and expressed through embodiment

the session will be held by skye and guided through direct pointing and medititve invitations into feeling, soundscape, breath and movement

this workshop will include a tailored soundscape and invite you to move and breath

why do this work?

there are soo many reasons i could (and maybe will) write a book, but what’s inspiring me at the moment:

  • it helps clear creative and emotional blocks

  • it invites you out of your head and connects you more deeply with your body - empowering you to speak, move and act - to show up in a more grounded way for those around you

  • it opens space in your experience to receive more of what life is offering you - this feels like aliveness and inspiration

  • it is an antidote to sensual shut down - the numbness many of us are experiencing right now in the overwhelm and uncertainty of life

we forgot how to be animals and it’s making us miserable

people speak to this as a process of “rewilding” but i feel this as a remembering and in my experience this remembering often happens by being in the presence (irl or online) of bodies who have the capacity to remind us of what we have forgotten and invite us to listen to what the body needs and what the body is capable of

transmission is happening through words as well as the wordless

what is textural worship?

when i talk about textural worship

i talk about devotion to the pause

i point to

an orienting towards

slowing down

and feeling an aliveness in every cell

i would describe myself as an animist

not through a desire to believe in something

but through acknowledgement of my direct experience of the world

an acknowledgement i see as essential for sanity

which i imagine looks quite different from the sterility of sanity prescribed by the powers that be

textural worship as an invitation back to the state of being i knew before i learned to overlay filters handed to me by the industrialising culture that raised me

a population already deeply immersed in sensorial shut down

for survival

this feels like a love letter to those bodies as much as anything

textural worship as fuel

for an inner fire that continues to forge me

textural worship as a song of freedom

for souls

that have always longed to know the stars

when i talk about textural worship

i talk about reverence for and intimacy with

reality

the kind of intimacy that blurs the line between internal and external

a kind of clear cognition that knows the body to be made up of it’s environment

because it feels it

and that feeling of

translates into conversation with

and that conversation with manifests into art

into embodying and expressing reverence through reciprocity

art as a calling to other bodies to join me

and sense into

textures of external landscapes

as invitations

into internal landscapes

of timelessness

this is what i know of art

and why this moment especially

beckons me

to make art

as invitation into “self”

or soma

through textural worship

for bodies that

could never

have never

and do nothing but

long for
